In order to teach diabetics about the importance of proper blood sugar control, we have created two biological models of Hemoglobin (Hb) and Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) to denote the accumulation of glucose due to prolonged periods of elevated blood sugar. On the left is normal Hemoglobin and the right a theoretical model of Hemoglobin A1c fully glycated at all possible binding sites.
